The African Securities Exchanges Association (ASEA) is the premier association of securities exchanges in Africa. Established in 1993, ASEA works to develop member exchanges and provide a platform for networking and cooperation.

ASEA's membership represents more than 30 securities exchanges across Africa, representing both the largest and the smallest economies in Africa. Our mission is to enhance the global competitiveness of member exchanges and provide a platform for networking and cooperation on areas of mutual importance.

ASEA is recognized as the association of reference with respect to African capital markets by African and global stakeholders. We work toward creating fair, efficient, and transparent markets that provide diverse investment opportunities for local and international investors.

The ASEA Annual Conference is the flagship event of the African Securities Exchanges Association, bringing together securities exchanges, market regulators, brokers, investors, and other stakeholders to discuss critical issues affecting African capital markets.

The 28th edition of this prestigious event will be held in Kigali, Rwanda from November 26-28, 2025, under the theme "Adapting to Global Market Shifts: Strategies for Resilience and Growth." The conference will explore how African exchanges can navigate global economic challenges and leverage opportunities for sustainable growth.

Our History

The journey of ASEA through the years

1993

Foundation of ASEA

The African Securities Exchanges Association (ASEA) was established in Kenya with the aim of developing member exchanges and providing a platform for networking.

1997

First Annual Conference

ASEA held its first annual conference, bringing together representatives from member exchanges to discuss challenges and opportunities.

2005

Strategic Expansion

ASEA expanded its membership to include more exchanges from across the continent, strengthening its position as the voice of African capital markets.

2014

Introduction of ASEA Index

Launch of the ASEA All Share Index, tracking the performance of leading African companies listed on member exchanges.

2020

Digital Transformation

ASEA embraced digital transformation, hosting virtual conferences and workshops in response to global challenges.
